Well my washing machine is at it again… (http://community.livejournal.com/laundry_reports/6904.html for anyone who does not recall my original post on this) for some odd reason it sporadically decides to just chew up certain pieces of clothing, between several washes a month and even more quere is that when it does decide it wants to ruin my clothes it only seems to attack ONE piece of clothing in an entire wash.

I have checked both my washing machine and my dryer to no avail, there is DEFINITLY nothing sharp in either of them.
I even worried that it was somehow related to my detergent so I changed that too – still no luck.
I even changed the way I put the detergent and fabric softener in, and changed the settings on the wash but STILL I find randomly one piece of clothing will get chewed up for no reason…

It’s starting to get to me now because there is no obvious cause, it’s causing anxiety inside of me when it comes to washing now because I am in constant fear a favourite garment of clothing will get ruined (and believe me I get really attached to clothes).

I just don’t know what to do… I am tempted to call my landlord and just ask for a new washer, but then there is the long wait till he can get a new (well I say new, it would be second hand knowing him) washer to me, and whether or not that will make this issue cease.

I just felt like ranting about it because it’s really doing my head in.

Pimping this under loved community randomly... http://community.livejournal.com/wash_rinse_spin/

Now onto a real post:

Who here uses tumble dryers to dry their clothes?
I tend to use a tumble dryer in the winter but I prefer to use a clothes line in the summer as I find leaving clothes to dry naturally retains their lovely fabric softener scent.

I am also addicted to Bounce dryer sheets!

Hello all,
I am writing here because I need a little washing machine advice – the other day the strangest thing happened... as usual I put my clothes in the washing machine (I did two loads that day, so there were two separate occurrences of this washing machine anomaly), put the detergent in and the fabric softener yadda yadda...

Once both loads of washing were dry (I put them both in my massive dryer, as normal) I took the clothes upstairs to be ironed and put away.
The first thing I noticed was one of my work trousers (just a normal black pair of smart trousers) was totally ripped at the crotch and thigh area, it looked as though someone had gotten a sharp knife and literally ripped down the leg, it was very clearly a straight slice.
I was shocked and irritated.... because of the damage and placement of the rips I knew sewing them up as not an option, so I put them in the bin.
Later that evening when getting out clothes for work, I noticed one of my favourite shirts had similar rips, but the sleeves and collar area.
Once again I became overwhelmed with panic and anxiety...
“were all my clothes ruined? Had I not noticed? Was it the detergent possibly eating away at the fabric? Did I over fill the drum perhaps?? Why had this never happened before???”
All these thoughts were flooding through my mind... I personally cannot stand the idea of clothes getting wrecked due to human error so it has been plaguing my mind ever since last Saturday... I just cannot work out how this could have occurred considering I have been washing clothes in the washing machine the exact same way for around 9 years now.
I have over-analysed the situation to death, there is nothing I did differently, I didn’t put the wash on a different setting, and I used the same detergent and softener I always use...
I am posting this mainly for advice - on the off chance someone out there reading this has experienced the same thing or knows why this strangeness could of happened.
This has left me perplexed and anxious, I fear putting on a wash this Saturday incase more of my beloved clothes become ruined... (I always become very attached to my clothes, keeping them in pristine condition for years... the top that became ripped I have had since I was 13 and it had absolutely no tears or stretching until now) – Advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I am new here...just found out about this community from bertho. all I can say is, there are days (more often than not!) where I am constantly stuck in *laundry hell* (tm) and my entire life is laundry!!!

so, a question...I have to wear white oxford shirts to work (I am a server) that constantly get stained...what do you recommend (besides bleach) to get stains out and keep them from getting all dingy?
